In the fast-evolving world of aviation, the pursuit of net zero emissions has become an imperative goal for organizations looking to reduce their environmental footprint. Here at Saxon Air, our commitment to sustainability and integrity has driven us to take substantial steps towards achieving net zero emissions and contributing to a greener, more sustainable future. Since our recent EEEGR award win, we’ve been working tirelessly to make a significant impact on our planet’s well-being and our shared mission for a sustainable future.
Fuelling Sustainability: Uplifting SAF for Cleaner Skies
One of the major achievements we are proud to share is our effort to uplift over 6812 litres of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) since March onto our H125 helicopter. This not only reflects our commitment to cleaner skies but has also allowed us to offset a significant portion of our flying activity’s CO2 emissions. So far this year, we’ve successfully offset 2,279 tonnes of CO2 emissions through projects dedicated to sustainability and environmental conservation.
Global Impact Through Collaborative Initiatives
As an organization, we firmly believe in the power of collaboration to make a positive impact on the environment. We’ve actively participated in various local and national groups, such as the Chamber BCL (Business Climate Leaders), NGAT (Net Zero General Aviation Training Group), and DEF (Department for Transport). These collaborations have allowed us to align our goals with the broader mission of achieving net zero emissions in the aviation industry. Our team members, like Alex and Rebekah, have been actively involved in industry events and discussions related to climate change and net zero initiatives. Their participation in such forums underscores our commitment to sustainability and the importance of collective efforts in the fight against climate change.
Aligning with UN Sustainable Development Goals
To further solidify our commitment to sustainability, we have worked on aligning our sustainability strategy with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Our projects, such as Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training, exemplify our dedication to promoting good health and well-being within our organization and the broader community. In line with these goals, we’ve taken significant steps to harness renewable energy sources. Following an independent energy audit of the Business Aviation Centre (BAC), we’ve invested in a large solar panel array, which will provide power to the center by 2024. This investment will not only reduce our carbon footprint but also serve as a testament to our commitment to a sustainable future.
Electrifying the Future: Electric Aircraft and EV Salary Sacrifice Scheme
We’re excited to announce our forthcoming electric aircraft business plan, which will include sightseeing flights over Norfolk. This initiative demonstrates our commitment to adopting cleaner technologies in aviation, reducing emissions, and upskilling our pilots to embrace electric aviation. In addition, our ‘Electric Dreams’ EV salary sacrifice scheme empowers our staff to drive emissions-free electric vehicles, ultimately saving money and reducing their carbon footprint. By encouraging electric vehicle adoption, we’re striving to lead by example and inspire others to make sustainable choices.
As we continue our journey toward net zero emissions, we remain steadfast in our commitment to sustainability and integrity. These initiatives and collaborations represent just a fraction of our efforts to create a more sustainable, eco-friendly future for our organization and the aviation industry as a whole. Together, we can work towards cleaner skies and a brighter, more sustainable world for generations to come.
