“Having flown in a number of vintage aeroplanes I thought I would come right up to date and have a flight in the Pipistrel electric plane. The online booking on the Saxon Air website was straight forward and easy to use. The only problem was the English weather but Ellie was very helpful throughout the process and kept me fully informed.
On the day of the flight we were met by John, who welcomed me and my 4 guests and explained what was going to happen. Normally, I would have had a go in the flight simulator before the flight, but because of the changeable weather conditions I had the flight first while John gave my guest instructions on the flight simulator.
My pilot was the very experienced Jason, who talked me through everything and made sure I was properly strapped in ready to fly. The flight was great and I was allowed to take over the controls and fly it as well. For me it was very interesting to compare the Pipistrel with the other much older planes I had flown in before. Electric vehicles and batteries are improving rapidly and I am sure the Pipistrel is just a pioneer of what is to come. The flight was very enjoyable and the all round vision very good. On landing Jason showed me round the motorised version the Explorer which was also a very impressive aircraft.
We were then provided with a good buffet lunch before it was my turn to try the simulator. Under John’s guidance I did 2 circuits taking off and landing at London’s Inner City Airport. I even got to fly under Tower Bridge! Wouldn’t it be great to do that in real life.
At the end of the experience I was given a goody bag of items to last as a reminder of the day. The whole experience was first class and we all had a brilliant time. Everyone at Saxon Air were very friendly and welcoming. It was much more than just a flight and great value for money. I would certainly recommend it to anyone”.
